What a week it has been! My mentor teacher is wonderful :) I have been included in so many aspects of the class and in planning. I absolutely love my students. They amaze me everyday with their learning and growth. I introduced myself on Monday and said I was from Ohio. One of my students said they were also from Ohio...so cool! Each day brings new light into my student teaching. I have already learned so much in just a few days. The school is beautiful and the staff is so kind. One of my favorite things about the school is that the classrooms have a folding door and are able to open to the outdoors. Some of the students have helped me with some Spanish words that I did not know..they laugh but are helpful! They like to play with my name tag as it stretches and I have both my AU and CDS ID. They compare which picture I look more alike depending on my hair for the day! The students make me laugh everyday as they say the funniest things. As I taught my lesson today on Martin Luther King, I had remind myself that I wasn't in the United States. On another note, I am still trying to learn Spanish. It is very hard and trust me I am trying! My goal by the time I leave is to speak in sentences and not just one word. The other night I went to a restaurant in Escazu that had this gorgeous view of the city below. It was absolutely breath taking and marvelous. Also, deep dish pizza in Costa Rica is dang good! As I have been in Costa Rica for a little over a week on my own, I can say I have adjusted to the culture and can't wait to experience more adventures. Stay tunned!
