What an exciting time its already been. This past Thursday, I met my mentor teacher and got to know my school. I am very excited to be working with her! It is wonderful and the staff is very kind and helpful. Friday, I went and helped in the classroom and attended faculty lead presentations which were very insightful. Saturday, I went to San Jose with some girls from Oklahoma who are living near by. It was great to see the city, but it definitely is a city with a lot of people! (The picture above was taken in San Jose) We conquered the public bus system which included a lot of walking to find the right bus to take us home. As for today, I got up around 4:50am to go rafting with two family members. We got to the hotel to be picked up and waited and waited for our ride. It turns out the trip was cancelled! So back home we went. Every Sunday in town there is a farmers market. Let me tell you this isn't a little market, the streets were filled with stands. I was able to purchase some fruits and veggies including manzana de agua which is a water apple. I had never heard of them but they are delicious! I recommend trying them if you have the opportunity. Although I've only been here for a few days, some moments have been hard with trying to communicate. Each day I am picking up more Spanish. Tomorrow the students will be back at school. There are a total of 13 students in my class and I am so excited to meet them and get to work with them! Stay tuned for more!
